Hi! I’m Jocelyn—
I’m a queer, dyslexic writer from Denver, Colorado who is obsessed with how what we read can change us forever.
I was one of those kids that read to escape. I wandered from book to book to elude the demons in the real world and came back having learned that even the largest dragons can be slain. Inside the pages of my favorite books I found safety, freedom, and the community I so desperately craved.
It’s everything to me to try to help cultivate the space on the page into one that others will find the same way I did, when they most need it.
I founded Inked Harpoon to help other people who have the drive to create the story that speaks to them do the hardest thing in the lit world. Finish, and bring their book into the world. That looks different for all of us—maybe that means finishing a draft, or editing one into a shape you like, or shining up the lines until you’re proud.
I specialize in all things messy—romance, horror, fantasy, and sci-fi with characters that make us want to be the best in ourselves or that show us the worst we can be. I believe that every story has a place and that each of us has a reason for telling our story.
That’s the magic of writing. It can be anything, say anything, and still spear us right through the heart.
